Peter Lorimer hits his last rocket.

Another player from my youth has died, it makes me feel so old.
My abiding memories of Lorimer was his legendary long distance shooting and the power of them.
RIP Peter Lorimer.

I would never relate a Leeds United striker to my childhood. Bit odd that.
And yes, I did have a childhood :-)

I well remember his goal at Upton Park in Leeds' 1-0 win. The three hardest shots I ever saw live were all goals against us: Jonny Metgod free kick for Forest; Lorimer as above; Bale in Spurs' 3-2 around 2013.

Lorimer was a very good player from an era of excellent Scottish players. Leeds had some top players and were a very talented team. Which made Revie's plan of playing in such a cynical devious way so hard to understand.

I worked with Dickie Guy In Millwall Dock at the time when he made that famous penalty save from Lorimer FA Cup 1975 to be fair it was a poor penalty. Leeds were a dirty side but were also full of talent.
Rest In Peace.

Great player from my childhood, had a kick like a mule. That Leeds side from the late 60's, early 70's may have been cynical but that he had some fantastic players.
RIP Peter condolences to your family and friends.

sad to hear - a very good player and one from my childhood - hell of a shot on him and in a very good if dirty Leeds side - we had some great games against that Leeds side and remember the bonds bremner battles well - which bonds won of course

Very few "foreigners" in the top tiers at that time - most were from the "Home Nations", so unsurprising all four were spoilt for choice.
Remember feeling he'd be a good fit at West Ham, but we got Paddon instead, who I felt was a better rounded player.

I'm just reading Geoff Hurst's autobiography at the moment, never read it before, (great read BTW) and the players that shear volume of top quality International standard he mentions from that era is quite staggering. International Managers had the opposite problem how to fit them all in. That Leeds side were a bit naughty but didn't half have some quality. RIP.
